Change Process
The following process assumes a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word for Windows. If you are not familiar with this application, you may submit redlines to the Book Manager on a paper copy with rationale attached.
1. Access the document through the Ascent/Entry Guidance and Procedures Office web site (https://mod.isc.nasa.gov/DM/AEGPO/AEGPOhome.html) under Console Documentation. Electronically copy the pages or sections of interest into a new Microsoft Word document. Open the newly saved document.
2. Select "Revisions" from the Tools menu and check the "Mark Revisions While Editing" box. Then select "Accept All" and "OK" so that your copy contains no revision marks until you enter your changes.
Note: If "Accept All" is not available (i.e. "grayed out") then there were no previous revisions. Simply check the "Mark Revisions While Editing" box and select "OK".
3. Select "Options" form the Tools menu and select the "User Info" tab. Enter your name and initials.
4. Enter your changes. After each technical change, select "Comment" from the Insert menu. The word in the document, where the cursor is, will be highlighted and your initials will be placed inside brackets next to the highlighted word. A window at the bottom of the screen will appear for you to type your comment. In this window, enter the rationale for the change. Include 482 or Flight Software CR numbers, etc. as appropriate. Spelling corrections and other editorial changes do not require a "Comment."
5. Insert this revised Word document into an E-mail addressed to the Book Manager (see the A/E GPO web site, for the current Book Manager and e-mail address).
6. The Book Manager will then review the change and incorporate it as appropriate into the electronic version contained in the Al_fph/working directory. Working versions will be forwarded to subject matter experts for review.
7. On a periodic basis, a PCN or Revision will be submitted to the Ascent/Descent Dynamics Branch Chief for approval. The new version will be moved into the Al_fph directory and mailed to the distribution list.
